Why do we do anything? Learn a language, start a job, move to a new city or town: we do it to belong.
Researching neuroscience and neurolinguistics gave way to more open doors.
I moved from the world of hands-on corporate training to asynchronous education, setting up and creating gamified learning management systems for full corporate compliance, of course. In this time, I also dove into taking a Psychology 101 course at the University of Toronto, as well as the works of Chantel Prat, Adam Grant, Susan Cain, Chip and Dan Heath, and Charles Duhigg. I was more concerned about why and how we do what we do, and how to change our habits and routines, than checking a corporate attendance box.
The language we use to talk about our work, our hobbies, our beliefs, and our ourselves has a bigger impact than we realize. This is paramount to language-learning.
Life is made up of a series of decisions that lead to a wonderful adventure.
When I stepped out as a starry-eyed college grad, I had one thing on my mind: get a job. I always enjoyed problem-solving, so I fell into the world of IT consulting.
But language was always following.
Whether I was keeping up my own Spanish skills, tutoring English or Spanish in the DC Metro area, or using language to communicate to between clients and backend developers, I’ve always loved language… almost as much as lightbulb moments.

Year 01
Aprovechar opens its doors, providing one-on-one and group Spanish coaching for busy adults.
Year 02
The year starts with translating projects for Latin America-based businesses while continuing Spanish programs.
Year 03
Megan becomes TEFL-certified and begins to offer bespoke English programs along with creating the Deseo Spanish program.
Year 04
“Spanish Basics for Landscaping Professionals” is launched, along with more Una Palabra Sola episodes and the Deseo program.
